Manitoga / The Russel Wright Design Center chose New York City-based artist Stephen Talasnik for its 2015 Artist Residency program.
As the result of his residency, Stephen Talasnik built a series of floating reed structures for Manitoga’s Quarry Pool, adjacent to the original home of modernist designer Russel Wright in Garrison, New York. Talasnik was drawn to Manitoga’s seamless architecture and natural splendor. In his words, “There is an intimacy to the choreographed environment that engages the senses. It compels the individual to confront a very immediate and intimate space within a suggestively theatrical large-scale natural sanctuary”.
